My Flip Video Camera only produces sounds when editing it in Windows movie maker. Any ideas how to fix it?

So I've had this problem for about a year now and every time i record a video on my Flip Video Camera (original) it records fine. I can view the video perfectly on my camera but the problem comes into affect when I try to upload the videos onto my computer and edit them in windows movie maker. I am able to upload them into the FlipShare software and view it there, but when i try to send the videos to my windows movie maker it only produces the sound of the video and nothing else. If there is any ideas on how to fix it please help. I hope i provided enough info on my problem. thank you

As you can see, wmm does not recognize flip cam videos. So you need a professional flip cam software to change the flip video format to wmm supportable video files. Read the following passage. Hope it can help you:

Hi, ,windows movie maker cannot accept flip video format directly. So you need a third software to convert flip video to wmm compatible formats. Windows movie maker is friendly to wmv, mpg, avi, etc formats. Recommend you a professional flip video converter which can not only help you to convert flip video to wmm format but also to other popular formats with ease. If you wanna keep the original high quality, you may choose to convert to HD WMV format.

here is a fact that Windows Movie Maker didn’t play nice with Slide HD as well as Flip
Ultra and Mino HD. The problem is with the video codec that the Flip uses: MPEG-4 AVI/H.264
encoded MP4 format. Windows 7 or Windows Movie Maker lacks native support for playing MP4
videos. You will have to download and install extra codec for MP4 support (XP and Vista
does this automatically).There is a compatiblity issue with your
source files.Many formats are reportedly compatible with
Movie Maker but the most reliable choices are:
Photos - bmp
Video - wmv or dv-avi
Music - wma, wav, wmv

sorry to tell u that windows movie maker will not flip videos (mainly in mp4 format), it only work on few files like avi, wmv, mpg, asf etc, therefore, if u would like the flip videos workable with windows movie maker, u will need to convert to wmm acceptable files, iorgsoft flip video converter, as far as i know can do it prefectly, just feel free to google iorgsoft flip video converter to get it, hope u help u :) |

Movie Maker does not support several video formats, especially HD. You will need to convert your videos first. The link below has many, some are free:
Movie Maker only supports:
Video files: .asf, .avi, .wmv
Movie files: MPEG1, .mpeg, .mpg, .m1v, .mp2
Audio files: .wav, .snd, .au, .aif, .aifc, .aiff
Windows Media files: .asf, .wm, .wma, .wmv
Still images: .bmp, .jpg, .jpeg, .jpe, .jfif, .gif
